Annual Empty Bowls
Community Service Project
bowl project
Each January for over a decade, volunteers participate in our Spin-a-thon to create 150 soup bowls from scratch. After each bowl is wheel thrown, it dries for a period of time before another volunteer trims the bottom of the vessel in preparation for kiln firing. When the bowls are complete, student volunteers from local area schools visit the studio to learn the process of glazing and take charge of decorating all 150 bowls! When the bowls complete the second firing in a glaze kiln they are transported to Three Rivers Community College where the Annual Empty Bowls Event takes place in late April or early May! The bowls are sold at the fundraiser to support the St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry in Norwich, CT.If you have the ability to create wheel thrown pottery and would like to join us in this one day adventure to make 150 bowls, please call to reserve your volunteer time slot and wheel for January 2014! 860-886-8562Not a potter? After School Art
& Wellness Programs
kids after school
Our after school art programs offer children fun, creative and educational outlets outside of the school day atmosphere. They enjoy exploring all forms of art from painting, drawing, 3D sculpture, clay and more. Our studio has partnered with area schools and state grants to run after school programs addressing truancy or closing achievement gaps in addition to providing support to schools that have made cuts to their in school art programs. Art is a therapeutic way for children to express themselves and interact with their peers. We also host school groups for studio tours, demonstrations and private workshops.

Farmer’s Markets
& Community Events
We often take Arts & Wellness on the road! We are market sponsors for the Bozrah Farmer’s Market & Coventry Regional Farmer’s Market and we participate in their wellness themed market events showcasing our professional wellness family and often times selling pottery. We have been invited to participate in School Health Fairs, Private business wellness days, staff appreciation days and other community outings. We always appreciate the opportunity to extend our services to the growing community.
