Lyndsay Meiklem Dean discovered her passion for clay the moment she sat down at a potter’s wheel more than two decades ago. She honed her clay skills teaching at children’s summer camps, attending workshops and persistent practice. Today, Lyndsay is a full time working potter and instructor who is passionate about sharing her love for the medium with others. For just as long, Lyndsay has been practicing yoga. She has explored various styles and practiced with a wide range of master instructors at several Yoga Journal Conferences over the years. For Lyndsay, yoga is not only a tool for stress relief, but also for actively staying fit and flexible. Diagnosed with scoliosis (curvature of the spine) as a teenager, Lyndsay has utilized yoga for pain management and self care. Shiva Rea’s Prana Flow ®Energetic Vinyasa most closely aligns with Lyndsay’s desire for a creative and flowing approach to yoga. In 2010, she completed her 200/hr Teacher Training with Shiva Rea’s Senior Teacher Trainer Coral Brown 500eRYT. In 2012, Lyndsay went on to complete the first level of Thai Yoga Bodywork certification with Ed Cardinal, became a Yoga for Scoliosis Trainer under Elise Browning Miller, and completed her 500hr YTT with Coral Brown in Prana Flow Yoga. Although she credits her parents with instilling in her an incredible self-motivation and confidence that has enabled her to pursue her dreams, Lyndsay relies heavily on the motto “Conceive, Believe, Receive” which is a key ingredient to a happy life.
In 2002, Lyndsay Meiklem established Meiklem Kiln Works, which began as a small Pottery Studio that offered clay classes to the public. In 2006, Meiklem Kiln Works moved to its present location in Bozrah, CT, and nearly tripled its size with the addition of an Art Studio. The Centerspace Wellness Studio, realized in 2010, now functions alongside the Art studio. The Art studio offers classes in a variety of artistic mediums including fused glass and precious metal clay, while the Wellness Studio offers ongoing yoga, meditation, and healing arts classes. The main goal in all of the classes is always to encourage students to first and foremost enjoy themselves while learning. Connecting with the community is also very important to Lyndsay. To that end, the studio participates in several annual community events and community service projects. See our Outreach page for more info!
